Sokoto State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of nine Commissioner Nominees submitted by Governor Aminu Tambuwal as members of the State Executive Council. This followed the adoption of a motion by the Majority leader, Malami Basakkwace during plenary on Wednesday. Recall that Tambuwal on Tuesday had requested the confirmation of the appointment of the nominees.

Tambuwal Reinstates Chief of Staff

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has reinstated his former Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Magori. According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Muhammad Bello, Tambuwal also nominated nine Commissioners to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation. Recall that the Chief of Staff and other members of the cabinet had on April 27 resigned their positions to seek Political offices in the State.

INEC To Comply With Court Order On Voters’ Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it will comply with the ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja on the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR. INEC’s Commissioner of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, noted that the Court asked the Commission to return on June 29 to explain its position. Recall that the Court had stopped INEC from its decision to end the CVR exercise on June 30.
