Armenia and Azerbaijan have negotiated a ceasefire to end a sudden resurgence of fighting that has killed 155 soldiers from both sides. Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, who announced the truce, said it had taken effect hours earlier. Before the announcement, Armenia’s Defence Ministry revealed that shelling had stopped but did not mention any ceasefire agreement. However, there was no word from Azerbaijan about the deal.

Thailand’s Constitutional Court has announced a new date to deliver its decision on whether Prayuth Chan-ocha can remain as Prime Minister. United Nation Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has called for solidarity and cooperation to address a “world in peril”. Guterres made the appeal at the opening of the 77th United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday. A court in Pakistan has adjourned the pre-arrest bail of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Khan appeared before the anti-terrorism court that adjourned the case until September 20. United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has appealed for massive global support for Pakistan where  floods have killed nearly 1,400 people. Guterres made the appeal today in Pakistani capital, when he was received by the state minister for foreign affairs, Hina Khar. Pakistan’s minister for information and broadcasting, Marriyam Aurangzeb, said the visit will help highlight the problems faced by flood victims and help in sensitizing the world about the consequences of climate change.

Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving monarch in British history, her eldest Son, Prince Charles has reportedly emerged as King of England.
