Pakistani former President Pervez Musharraf has died after a prolonged illness at the age of 79. Musharraf, a four-star general, ruled Pakistan for nearly a decade after seizing power in a bloodless coup in 1999. A statement released by the military’s expressed heartfelt condolences on the demise of the former military ruler. The former general was suffering from a rare disease that causes organ damage.

Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has ordered its members to sit-at-home from today, until government addresses the lingering fuel and cash scarcity in the state. NLC State chairperson, Beatrice Itubo, noted that civil servants were directed to stay at home because the scarcity of fuel is affecting workers income. The Chairperson stressed that their members were facing untold hardship and would not continue living in such a condition.
Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has signed a new long-term contract. Martinelli joined from Brazilian side Ituano in the summer of 2019 and has made 111 appearances in all competitions. Disgraced former pop star, Paul Gadd, popularly known as Gary Glitter, has been freed from prison after serving half his 16-year jail term. Glitter was sentenced in 2015 for attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one of having sex with a girl under 13. A spokesperson of the Justice Ministry assured that Gadd will be closely monitored by police.
