The Gambia Authorities Name Mastermind of Coup Attempt

The Gambia's government has named a navy officer as the alleged ringleader of a failed coup plot. According to authorities, Sanna Fadera had been detained, along with three other officers, from the navy, presidential guard battalion and military police. Loyalist troops were still searching for three alleged accomplices. The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, condemned the attempted coup, and said it stands firmly by President Adama Barrow's government.

According to a medical report, the 82-year-old is under elevated care and will now spend Christmas at the Hospital. The Legend has been fighting colon cancer since his diagnosis in September 2021 and was hospitalized three weeks ago after Covid aggravated a respiratory infection.

Peru President Re shuffles Cabinet.

Peru’s president, Dina Boluarte, has announced a partial cabinet reshuffle. This comes hours after legislators endorsed a plan to move elections forward in a bid to quell protests that began after the impeachment of Boluarte’s predecessor. The changes were made two weeks after Peru’s opposition-led Congress voted to remove President Pedro Castillo from office in the third impeachment effort of the left-wing leader’s embattled presidency.

According to a statement issued by the government, Four soldiers had been arrested and three alleged accomplices were on the run. The statement noted that It is unclear who exactly was behind the attempt to overthrow President Adama Barrow.
