A Popular Priest, Hyacinth Alia emerged as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State. Alia won 12 out of the 23 Local Government Areas of the State with a total of 464,391 votes. Recalled that Alia was suspended by the Bishop of Gkoko Catholic Diocese for engaging in partisan Politics.
The Apex Igbo Socio-Political Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has said the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, will never become Nigeria’s President. Ohanaeze Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, made the remark while denouncing the PDP Presidential Primary that produced Atiku as the Party’s Flag bearer. Isiguzoro stressed that the Igbo would rise against PDP and Atiku, adding that his Presidential campaign would be rejected in the South-East.
Edo government says it has paid May salaries and pension to workers reflecting the new N40, 000 minimum wage increase. The woman leader of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo state, Maria Nnakwe, has lamented the marginalization of women in the just concluded primaries of the party. Speaking with BossRadio, Nnakwe berated the leadership of the party for sidelining women who contested for various positions in the party. The Federal High Court, Abuja, has upheld the just concluded primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State. In his ruling, the presiding Judge, Obiora Egwatu, urged the parties in the case to help the court accelerate the hearing following the limited judicial time frame for pre-election matters. The member representing Okigwe North in the Federal House of Representatives, Miriam Onuoha, has assured people of the zone of more constituency project.
