Akwa Ibom State Chief Judge, Ekaete Obot has granted amnesty to six inmates of Ikot Abasi Correctional Centre. According to Justice Obot, the inmates were freed because they have spent more years in prison than the penalty for the offense they were charged with. The Chief Judge added that the freed inmates, who were diagnosed with cardiac failures, were granted pardon on compassionate grounds.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has blamed the low turnout of voters in Imo state on insecurity that bedeviled the state. The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Chukwuemeka Ezeonu, disclosed this in an interactive session with Boss Radio News.
