The World Athletics has named American hurdler Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone the Female World Athlete of the Year. McLaughlin-Levrone beat Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan and three others for the prestigious honor. Amusan, Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Peru’s Kimberly Garcia, and Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas were the other finalists.
American actress Amber Heard is seeking a new defamation trial against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Heard filed the appeal earlier this month, contending that the last trial was unjust. At least seven people have been killed in a roadside blast in northern Afghanistan. According to officials, those killed in the blast include employees of a petroleum company on a bus. Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has approved the appointment of a new Head of Service. A statement signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, revealed that Samuel Aina will be sworn in today, in Osogbo, the state capital. Aina will succeed Festus Olowogboyega, who was appointed Head of Service by the administration of Rauf Aregbesola.
