Cross River State government has removed Secondary school principals who engaged in collecting illegal levies. The State Commissioner for Quality Education, Godwin Amanke, disclosed this during a ministerial briefing in Calabar, the state capital. Amanke stated that twelve principals were removed; six suspended and 16 were transferred, for the misdemeanor. The Commissioner noted that the principals were paying as much as N300,000 to be transferred.
Vietnam’s President Nguyen Phuc has tendered his resignation after the ruling Communist Party found him responsible for wrongdoing of numerous officials under him. Phuc, has held the largely ceremonial position for less than two years, and it is not immediately clear who would replace him. Actor Kevin Spacey has received a lifetime achievement award in Italy. The Museum of Cinema in Turin said it handed the prize in recognition of Spacey's personal aesthetic and authorial contribution to the development of the art of drama. His award comes days after he appeared in a UK court to face seven charges of sexual assault against a man in the early 2000s.
Andy Murray beat Italian 13th seed Matteo Berrettini to win a five-set thriller in the Australian Open first round. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has revealed that the 2023 general election is for young people in Nigeria.
