The Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State, has affirmed the Governor-elect of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, as the rightful Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in the just-concluded State election. The Court affirmed Adeleke as the Party’s Candidate while dismissing a suit by Dotun Babayemi, a Governorship Aspirant, against the Governor-elect.
President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the murder of a Catholic Priest, John Cheitnum in Kaduna State. In a statement issued by his Spokesperson on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari extended his condolences to the family of the slain Priest and the Christian Association of Nigeria leadership in the State over the death of Cheitnum. The statement reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to ensure the safety of lives.
The Senate has passed the Nigerian start-up Bill. Chairman of the Committee on ICT and Cyber Security, Oseni Yakubu, while making his presentation on Wednesday during plenary in Abuja, said the bill seeks to provide for the establishment of the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The passage of the bill followed the consideration of a report by the Committee.
Mali has expelled the Spokesperson, Olivier Salgado, of the United Nation’s Peacekeeping Force in the Country over posts he made on Twitter. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has charged Electoral Officers to stick to the oath of neutrality in the July 16 Governorship election in Osun State. INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, gave the charge in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday. The statement assured voters of safety during the poll, adding that the Commission is working closely with security to achieve that.
