ASUU-Federal government’s meeting ends in deadlock

The meeting between the Federal government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Tuesday ended without an agreement. A senior member of ASUU who spoke to newsmen said that members of the Briggs Renegotiation Committee did not come with any new offer on the table. He added that the six-month old strike embarked upon by Public University lecturers is set to continue.

Motorcycle Riders React to Planned Enforcement of Registration

Motorcycle riders in Imo state popularly known as Okada riders have reacted to the plan to enforce motorcycle registration by the State Internal Revenue Service, IIRS and the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC. An okada rider in Amakohia axis of the state, John Okolie, says motorcycle riders should be permitted to ply around town. For Aliyu Bala, the enforcement of registration is a welcome development.

Ogun Government to Sanction Pharmaceutical Operators

Ogun State Government has threatened to sanction pharmaceutical operators in the state over the activities of illegal operators. The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, Kayode Oladehinde, expressed concern over the growing operations of illegal pharmacy and patent medicine stores. Oladehinde noted that the state’s pharmaceutical inspectors had been empowered to deal with individuals engaging in the unauthorized selling of prescription drugs.
