Anambra Government Sets Up Family Court

Anambra State government has set up a family court to handle matters relating to domestic violence. The State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Ify Obinabo revealed that the state had recently recorded five deaths occasioned by domestic violence. Obinabo noted that the court already has 10 pending cases, with nine suspects remanded. The Commissioner added that the state government has zero- tolerance for domestic violence.

Police Sends Warning to Politicians

The Nigeria Police Force has advised all Politicians to eschew violence and caution their supporters against threatening voices ahead of the 2023 general elections. The Force Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who gave the caution during an interview with newsmen in Abuja, said any threat to life was a criminal offence. Adejobi urged anyone who felt threatened to report to the Police for necessary action.

Ruto Wins Kenyan Presidential Election

Kenyan Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced William Ruto winner of the August 9 Presidential Election. Chairman of the Commission, Wafula Chebukati, who announced the result, revealed that Ruto won 50.49 percent of votes against 48.85 percent for his rival, Raila Odinga. The President-elect led a tight Presidential race against opposition leader Odinga.
