Nigerian Paper Mills Collapses

National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has said Nigerian paper mills have collapsed years after privatization. According to BNS, Nigeria imported paper and its allied products worth N296.696billion between July and December 2021. While paper valued at N188.137billion was imported in the third quarter of 2021, import in the last quarter of the year was estimated at N108.559billion.

United States House approve funds for Ukraine

The United State House of Representatives has approved a fresh $40billion aid package for Ukraine. The Legislators passed the Ukraine bill by 368 to 57 votes on Tuesday. According to the Democratic Representative, Rosa DeLauro, who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, disclosed that the bill will protect democracy, limit Russian aggression, and strengthen national security.

Senate to Intervene in ASUU Strike

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has said the Upper Chamber will mediate in the ongoing strike action embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. Speaking with officials of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Lawan faulted the 2009 agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU. Akeredolu approves recruitment of personnel

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has approved the recruitment of 350 persons into the State Security Network Agency. Akeredolu made the announcement at an Award Programme organized by the State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre in Akure, the State Capital. He said the government would procure more operational vehicles and motorcycles to aid the operation of the Corps. The Governor noted that the recruitment became imperative as the Corps has been overstretched.
