Dominican Republic's minister of environment and natural resources, Orlando Mera, been shot dead in his office by a close friend. Officials say Mera was holding a meeting at the time of the attack. A presidential spokesman identified the assailant as Miguel Cruz, he is now in custody, and the motive for the shooting remains unclear. The late Minister had served in incumbent President Luis Abinader's administration since July 2020.

Mali’s military rulers have proposed the restoration of civilian rule in two years. Tunisian judges have commenced a week strike in protest to President Kais Saied’s interference in the judiciary. Head of the Young Judges Union, Mourad Massoudi revealed that the strike started today at all courts across the country. Massoudi noted that Courts will stay open for terrorism cases. This comes days after Saied sacked 57 judges, accusing them of corruption and protecting terrorists.

At least 26 people have died and four others injured after a bus plunged into a gorge in a northern Indian state of Uttarakhand. District police superintendent, Arpan Yaduvanshi, revealed that the bus was carrying 30 people, including the driver, to the remote Hindu pilgrimage site. At least 49 people have been killed and more than 300 injured after a massive fire swept through a container depot in Southeastern Bangladesh. According to the Chittagong Chief Doctor, Elias Chowdhury, the fire broke out at a container facility on Saturday triggering multiple explosions. Chowdhury added that the number of fatalities is expected to rise as some of the injured are in critical condition

A regional train has derailed in Southern Germany, killing at least four people. A Police Spokesperson said the Munich-bound train had been quite full at the time of the crash. Police put the number of injured at about 30, 15 of whom were seriously injured and taken to hospitals. There were multiple School Students on board the train.
