President Muhammadu has directed Ministers with Political ambition to resign. Buhari gave the directive on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja. The President said those affected are to submit their letters of resignation on or before Monday 16th, May 2022.
A Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Kingsley Moghalu has joined the Presidential race on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC. Moghalu picked up the ADC Presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination form in Abuja. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that the Presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, should be zoned to the South. Sanwo-Olu stated this on Tuesday after submitting his completed governorship form in Abuja. According to the Governor, for fairness and equity, the ticket should be ceded to the South, particular the South-West.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has said it will not extend the timeline for Party Primaries. INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu made this known while speaking at a consultative meeting with Leaders of Political Parties in Abuja. The House of Representatives has said it will hold an emergency plenary on Wednesday. Acting Clerk of the House, Yahaya Danzaria made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday. The statement noted that the emergency session was called to concur the decision of the Senate on the Electoral bill. Recalled that the Senate had amended the Electoral bill to allow statutory delegates to be delegates at Indirect Primaries.
Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, has appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to extend the timeline for the 2023 general elections by two months.
