Court orders accelerated hearing of suit to stop PDP’s Primaries

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered an accelerated hearing into a suit seeking to stop the planned Presidential Primary election of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

In his ruling, the Presiding Judge, Donatus Okorowo, gave PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu four days to file their responses to the suit against them.

Recall that Cosmos Ndukwe, a Presidential Aspirant on the PDP platform had asked the Court to stop PDP from proceeding with the Presidential Primary election.

House of Representatives to amend Electoral bill

The House of Representatives has said it will hold an emergency plenary on Wednesday. Acting Clerk of the House, Yahaya Danzaria made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday. The statement noted that the emergency session was called to concur the decision of the Senate on the Electoral bill. Recalled that the Senate had amended the Electoral bill to allow statutory delegates to be delegates at Indirect Primaries.
