The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria have threatened to embark on strike in two weeks’ time over the refusal of the Federal Government to pay sea farers their entitlements. NLC President, Joe Ajaero, urged the leadership of the union to issue a two-week challenge to the federal government over the international oil companies’ refusal to obey government’s Marine Notice.

Federal High Court to Observe Easter break

The Federal High Court will, on March 31, commence its Easter vacation. A statement signed by the Court’s Assistant Director of Information, Catherine Oby-Christopher, said the vacation would last till April 17. The statement added that the court would resume sitting on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, noting that the Abuja, Lagos and Port-Harcourt judicial divisions will remain open to the public only for cases of extreme urgency.

NPC Records Low Attendance during Trial Exercise

The National Population Commission, NPC, has recorded a low attendance during its trial exercise. Federal Commissioner of NPC in Edo State, Tony Aiyejina, disclosed this at a one-day capacity building workshop on effective reporting of the 2023 population and housing census held in Benin City. Aiyejina added that the trial period serves as a preparation for the organization, ahead of the national headcount schooled for March 29 – April 2.

Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, revealed this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday. The Football Association has charged Leeds United and Everton over the mass brawl during their Premier League game last weekend. The clubs were charged with improper conduct and failure to control their players. Four players were shown yellow cards after the incident towards the end of the first half of Everton's 1-0 win. The brawl was sparked by Everton winger Dwight McNeil reacting angrily to a tackle from midfielder Tyler Adams.

Oman has opened its airspace for Israeli airlines and carriers that meet the civil aviation authority’s requirements.
