The Federal Government has detected over 1,500 workers who joined the Federal Civil Service with fake appointment letters in one year. Reps moves to outlaw cross-dressing

The House of Representatives has moved a bill to ban cross-dressing in the country. The bill which was proposed by a member of the house Umar Muda on Tuesday at plenary seeks to outlaw cross-dressing with the exception of individuals who do it for amusement purposes. The lawmaker also proposed 6 months imprisonment or a fine of N500, 000 for anyone found guilty.

Senate extends implementation of 2021 budget

The Senate has extended the implementation of the 2021 Appropriation Act from March 31 to May 31, 2022. The Upper Chamber gave approval for the budget extension after examining a bill to amend the 2021 Appropriation Act. Presenting the bill at Tuesday’s plenary session, Senate Leader Yahaya Abdullahi, said the extension of the budget period became necessary to ensure that ongoing projects are completed.

CBN to penalize deposit banks for mutilated notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria has expressed concern over the increasing amount of mutilated banknotes deposited by Deposit Money Banks. CBN has warned banks to stop including composed currency notes in their deposits or risk paying a penalty of 400 per cent of the value of the banknote. Composed banknotes are mutilated currency notes that comprise several parts of different banknotes of the same denomination.
