INEC Speaks on Resources Needed for the Conduct of 2023 Elections

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it needs at least N239.2billion to procure voting materials that will be used in the 2023 general election. This was contained in the 2023 General Election Project Plan launched by INEC in Abuja. According to the Project Plan, N27.1billion has been set aside by the Commission for possible run-off elections.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has insisted that the 2023 general election will hold as planned despite the insecurity in the country. Chairman of the Electoral body, Mahmood Yakubu, stated this at a public presentation on Thursday in Abuja. Yakubu noted that next year’s polls would be governed by the new Electoral Act. The INEC Chairman, therefore, appealed to Nigerians to join hands in ensuring a success of the process.
