Oyetola Directs Appointees with Political Ambition to Resign

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has directed all Political Appointees contesting the 2023 general election to resign their appointments. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Oluwole Oyebamiji. The statement noted that the concerned appointees must comply with the instruction with immediate effect. It added that the directive is line with Sections 84 (12) and 29(1) of the Electoral Acts 2022.

Uzodinma Faults Call for Interim Government

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has faulted the call for an interim government at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. Uzodinma said the call is not supported by the Nigerian Constitution, stressing it would create a break in continuity. The Governor advised those championing the call for interim government to approach the National Assembly for the constitution to be amended to the effect.

Senate constitutes committee to investigate oil theft

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has constituted a 13-member Ad-hoc Committee to investigate oil theft and its effect on petroleum production and oil revenues. Lawan, who announced the composition of the panel at plenary, named Bassey Akpan as Chairman of the Committee. The Senate President gave the committee one month to conclude work on investigations and report back to the chamber in plenary.
