The People’s Democratic Party in the South-East has called on its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the leadership of the Party to ensure that the PDP standard-bearer picks his running mate from the Zone. Publicity Secretary of Anambra State PDP, Nnamdi Nwagwu, in an interview confirmed that the South-East demanded the Vice-Presidential slot. Nwagwu noted that only the VP slot could secure votes for the Party in the South-East.

Ghana Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged the Party’s Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu, to pick a female as his running mate. Chairman of APC Ghana, Oghenosa Micheletti, made the appeal in a statement issued on Friday. The statement noted that Tinubu’s choice of a female as Deputy led to the emergence of many women as Deputy Governors in Lagos State.
The former Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, has emerged the winner of the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial Primary. Akpabio won the rerun poll having polled 478 votes, while Joseph Akpan had only one vote, and the former Deputy Inspector general of Police had three votes. Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced June 17 as the deadline for submitting lists of Presidential Candidates and their running mates. INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, gave the directive during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja. According to Yakubu, the Commission fixed July 15 as the deadline for submitting lists of Governorship and House of Assembly Candidates.
Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has won the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial Primary election for Ebonyi South. Umahi’sbrother, Austin Umahi, was declared the winner of the Senatorial primary election for Ebonyi South, but the APC cancelled the earlier Primary election and rescheduled it for Thursday night. The Governor clinched the ticket in the rescheduled Primary election, held at the Afikpo North Local Government Council.
The Labour Party has declared former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi as its authentic Presidential Flag bearer for the 2023 elections. The Party’s National Secretary, Umar Ibrahim, maintained that there is no faction in the Party. Ibrahim advised citizens not to be distracted but mobilize support for Obi to liberate Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of Nigerian Labour Congress, Beatrice Itubo emerged the Governorship Candidate of the Labor Party. Itubo was declared winner of the primaries after pulling 201 votes out of the 272 delegate votes. The Governorship Candidate called on residents of the State to secure their Permanent Voters’ Cards in order to vote out bad Leaders.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has reappointed Chukwuemeka Woke has his Chief of Staff. Woke’s reappointment was announced in a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Kelvin Ebiri. Recall that the Governor relieved Woke of his appointment as Chief of Staff when he dissolved the State Executive Council.
