FG Says Lassa Fever Has Claimed 132 Lives in 2022

The Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora has revealed that Lassa fever outbreak has claimed the lives of 132 persons since the beginning of 2022. Mamora said 3,746 suspected cases and 691 confirmed cases had also been recorded in 23 States in the country. The Minister noted that Lassa fever cases were on the rise, with a case fatality rate of 19.1 percent.

Nigeria Receives 3million Covid 19 Vaccine From Italy

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, has received 3 million single-shot COVID-19 vaccines donated by Italy. Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefano De Leo, stated that Italy remains committed, to support Nigeria’s vaccine needs. More than 17 million doses were earlier sent by other European-Union member states. The 20 million total represents 61 per cent of all donated vaccines received by Nigeria via the COVAX facility.

NCDC records 701 cases of cholera

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has recorded 701 suspected cases of cholera and 19 deaths in 2022. This was contained in a report made available to newsmen yesterday. According to the report, it is monitoring the epidemiological trends to guide the requests for planned vaccination campaigns for cholera. It added that the National Rapid Response Team was deployed to support the ongoing outbreak response in Taraba State.
