Burna Boy Gets Two Grammy Nominations

Afrobeats megastar Burna Boy has been nominated for the 2023 Grammy Awards. His 6th album 'Love, Damini' shortlisted for the World Album prize. He was also nominated for the Global Song of the Year for 'Last Last' making it his second nomination. The nomination is Burna Boy's 3rd Grammy nomination for the World Album Category following 'African Giant' and 'Twice As Tall' nominated in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Mondrian Painting Sells for $51m at Auction

A 1930s painting by Piet Mondrian has sold for $51m in a New York auction, a record for the artist's work. The piece was last sold in 1983 for $2.15m, which is equivalent to $6.4m in today's money. The head of impressionist and modern art where the painting was auctioned, described the purchase as a once in a generation occurrence.

50 Cent Set to Produce TV Series About Hushpuppi

American rapper, Curtis Jackson III, popularly known as 50 Cent, is developing a television series about a con artist, Ramon Abbas, better known as Hushpuppi. 50 cent shared the news on his Instagram page with a photo of Hushpuppi. Prior to the rapper’s news, Universal Pictures, Will Packer Productions, and Mo Abudu's EbonyLife acquired the rights to the Bloomberg article about Hushpuppi in 2021.   This move got mostly negative reactions from Nigerians.

Davido Postpones Atlanta Festival

Nigerian megastar Davido's 'Are We Africans Yet' Atlanta festival has been postponed till November 2023. His management announced the postponement in a statement issued to newsmen. According the statement, the postponement comes in light of the recent family tragedy. It added that in light of the recent painful loss, the festival has been pushed back by 12 months as it is now set to hold on November 18th, 2023.
