Norway Expels Russian Officials

Norway has expelled 15 Russian officials it had accused of spying under diplomatic cover. Foreign minister Anniken Huitfeldt stated that Norway would not allow Moscow to use its embassy to carry out covert intelligence activities. This is the latest in a string of Russian expulsions since it launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine last year.

Commercial Banks Resumes Revising Interest Rates

Commercial banks across Nigeria have begun revising their interest rates. This is coming after the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, raised its benchmark lending rate to 18 per cent last month. CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, noted that the committee voted to keep the asymmetric corridor at +100 and -500 basis points around the MPR.

NCDC Records 846 Lassa fever Cases Across the States

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, NCDC, has recorded 846 Lassa fever cases across 99 Local Government Areas in 25 states. In its situation report the Centre revealed that the suspected cases is now 4,338 and the disease has killed at least 148 persons. Woodberry Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud

A known associate of the now-imprisoned internet fraudster, Hushpuppi,  Olalekan Ponle, known as Woodberry, has pleaded guilty to wire fraud. Ponle agreed to forfeit $8 million in proceeds of wire fraud as well as luxury cars and watches to the foreign government. According to his plea agreement, he is required to pay back the sum of $8 million he fraudulently received from the seven companies that he scammed.
