Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Kwara State, has deployed 800 personnel to man security during the Easter celebrations. The State Commandant of NSCDC, Makinde Ayinla, disclosed that the deployed personnel were drawn from various departments and units of the Corps to ensure security. The commandant enjoined Christians in the state to use the occasion to pray for the state and Nigeria in general.
Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa has offered to talk with protesters calling for the government to step down over its handling of an economic crisis. The country is in the worst financial crisis since independence in 1948. Thousands of people have taken to the streets to denounce the government led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and his elder brother.
