A member of the House of Representatives, Shina Peller, has called on youth to focus more on entrepreneurship as one of the ways to revamp the Country’s Economy. Peller who lamented the state of the nation despite available huge human and material resources, urged youths to become a problem solver by creating job opportunities instead of seeking one.
Former Honduran President, Juan Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to drug charges in the United States. Hernandez who appeared in US Federal Court on Tuesday maintained that he is innocent. The Ex- President was extradited to the US last month and was charged with violent drug-trafficking conspiracy.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has extended the deadline for the sale of its Expression of Interest and Nomination forms. APC extended the deadline to May 12 2022 and directed that all Aspirants who have submitted their forms would be screened on Saturday and Sunday. It also disclosed that Aspirants who have obtained the Nomination forms have until Friday to submit them.
The House of Representatives has passed an amendment to the Electoral Act 2022 to recognize statutory delegates at primaries, congresses, and conventions of Political Parties. The passage was in concurrence with the Senate which had on Tuesday held an emergency session to correct what the House called a fundamental error.
The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba has resigned. Nwajiuba’s resignation came few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari ordered all his Ministers who are vying for Political office to resign.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has reacted to President Muhamadu Buhari’s directive that all Ministers vying for any elective office in 2023 should resign. Reacting, Ngige said he is not in a hurry to resign from his appointment, noting that he has to consult with President Buhari and his Constituents before tendering any resignation letter.
President Muhammadu has directed Ministers with Political ambition to resign. Buhari gave the directive on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja. The President said those affected are to submit their letters of resignation on or before Monday 16th, May 2022.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has set aside the judgment of a Federal High Court in Umuahia which voided the provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.
