The Nigeria Police Force says it will deploy the X-squad, intelligence officers and investigators during the 2023 general election to ensure that politicians moving with physical cash for vote buying are apprehended and dealt with.

Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, who was represented by Assistant Inspector General of Police, Bala Ciroma, made this known at a one-day stakeholders summit held in Abuja.

Baba promised to ensure that the use of money to influence next year’s poll will be minimized to the barest minimum, noting that the Police will provide a conducive atmosphere for the conduct of 2023 elections.

The IGP called for all hands to be on deck and all the relevant security agencies to work in synergy to achieve credible polls in 2023.
