Immigration Service Clears Air on Chargeable Fees

The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, has reacted to the outrage over the disparity in charges for passport.

A statement issued on its Twitter account disclosed that passports are issued regardless of where the applicants live.

The statement noted that the electronic passport has been in inception since the introduction of e-passport in 2007.

It added that chargeable fees range from N8,750 to N17,800 depending on age of the applicant and category of Passport.

Recall that some Nigerians condemned the different rates on the NIS website for States in the North and South.
