FG Promises that ASUU Strike Will be Called Off

The Federal Government has assured that the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, would soon be called off.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, disclosed this at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ngige maintained that there are no plans to establish an alternative payment platform for all the labour unions in tertiary institutions.

ASUU, which grounded academic activities since February 14, 2022, had insisted on the use of its own generated payment platform, the University Transparency and Accountability Solution.
