Buhari Departs for United Arab Emirates

The Presidency has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari would be embarking on a condolence visit to the new President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Al Nahyan.

A statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the visit is to commiserate with the new President on the passing of the former president and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

The statement revealed that the visit will renew bonds of the longstanding friendship between Nigeria and the UAE.

It reaffirmed Nigeria’s cordial relationship with the country, noting that the cooperation between both governments have helped Nigeria in tracking down illegal assets and tracing terrorist funds.

Akeredolu Faults 1999 Constitution

Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has faulted the 1999 Constitution which places security in the exclusive legislative list. A statement issued by Akeredolu, said the Constitution mocks the federal status of the country, noting that the unstable state of the polity, calls for a rejig of the constitution. The statement pointed that the Federal Government wields too much powers, hence the need to rejig the constitution.
