Customs Intercept 1,000 Bags Of Foreign Rice In Lagos

The Federal Operations Unit, of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Ikeja, Lagos state, has intercepted over 1,000 bags of foreign parboiled rice smuggled into the country through Benin Republic.

The acting Comptroller, Zone A, Hussein Ejibunu, who disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday, said the rice came into Cotonou from India.

According to him, the foreign rice was tested and confirmed to be poisonous and unsafe for consumption by the National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC.
