Ngige appeals to ASUU to call of strike

The Minister of Labor and Employment, Chris Ngige has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to suspend its ongoing strike.

Ngige who made the appeal on Thursday, faulted the Nigeria Labour Congress’ ultimatum for ending the strike.

He noted that the Federal Government cannot pay 200 per cent rise in emoluments of university workers proposed by the former renegotiation committee headed by Jubril Munzali.

Recall that NLC had issued a 21 day ultimatum to the Federal Government to resolve its issues with ASUU.
