Kenyan Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced William Ruto winner of the August 9 Presidential Election. Chairman of the Commission, Wafula Chebukati, who announced the result, revealed that Ruto won 50.49 percent of votes against 48.85 percent for his rival, Raila Odinga. The President-elect led a tight Presidential race against opposition leader Odinga.

Former Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib Razak, has started his final attempt to set aside his conviction in a corruption case. Germany has suspended its operations in Mali after the local military government denied flyover rights to a United Nations peacekeeping mission. A complex weekend attack in Mali’s restive Central Region which had earlier killed 17 soldiers has risen to 42. A statement issued by the Malian Army disclosed that at least four civilians were killed in the attack. According to the latest update, the Military government revealed that 22 Soldiers were wounded, while 37 fighters had been killed.
