Kenyan Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced William Ruto winner of the August 9 Presidential Election. Chairman of the Commission, Wafula Chebukati, who announced the result, revealed that Ruto won 50.49 percent of votes against 48.85 percent for his rival, Raila Odinga. The President-elect led a tight Presidential race against opposition leader Odinga.

Death Toll of Soldier’s Attack in Mali Rises

A complex weekend attack in Mali’s restive Central Region which had earlier killed 17 soldiers has risen to 42. A statement issued by the Malian Army disclosed that at least four civilians were killed in the attack. According to the latest update, the Military government revealed that 22 Soldiers were wounded, while 37 fighters had been killed.
