Nigeria’s Men’s Relay Team Out of World Athletics Championships

Nigeria’s 4x100m Men Team failed to qualify for the World Athletics Championships in Oregon. The Team ran 38.34secs on the opening day of the championships, but clocked 38.84secs in the final on Sunday. With the time, the Team dropped from 16th to 17th position, after Team Liberia’s performance took them to the 16th and final position for the World Championships in Oregon, USA.

FG to Suspend Nigeria’s Basketball Teams From International Competition

The Federal Government has revoked its decision to suspend Nigeria’s basketball teams from all international competitions. Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports Development Ismaila Abubakar revealed that the decision is based on a letter of appeal from the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF. Before the reversal of the ban, FIBA had replaced the D’Tigress with Mali ahead of the FIBA Women’s World Cup to be held later in the year.

FIFA Approves 26-man Squads for Qatar World Cup

FIFA has approved 26-man squads for this year’s World Cup in Qatar. This is an expansion on the 23-man squads that had been used before the coronavirus pandemic. The Football Body added that up to 15 substitutes can be named for a game, meaning no player misses out. The deadline for all 32 countries competing to submit their final squads is 20 October.
