Andy Murray has been selected for Great Britain's Davis Cup team. Murray joins Cameron Norrie, Dan Evans and world doubles number one Joe Salisbury for the group stage of the competition in Glasgow next month. The team will face the United States, Kazakhstan and the Netherlands and will be led by British number one Norrie.

Britain's Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof have won their sixth doubles title. Skupski and Koolhof beat British-Australian pair Dan Evans and John Peers in the Canadian Open. The duo won 6-2 4-6 10-6 in Montreal to claim their second ATP Masters 1,000 crown of the season.

Simona Halep beat Brazil’s Beatriz Maia to claim a third Canadian Open title. Halep pulled through 6-3 2-6 6-3 to cement her rise back up to sixth in the world rankings. She dropped from second in the world to 20th after missing a large part of last season with injury.

Britain's Jack Draper and Dan Evans are through to the Canadian Open quarter-finals. Draper, led Gael Monfils 6-0 0-2 in their last-16 match when the Frenchman had to withdraw with a suspected ankle injury in Montreal. Evans defeated American 10th seed Taylor Fritz 7-6 (9-7) 1-6 7-5.

FIFA has confirmed that the 2022 World Cup will kick off on Sunday, November 20, instead of the initially scheduled date of Monday, November 21. According to FIFA, the tournament is extended to 29 days, with the final taking place on Sunday, December 18. It added that the first game will be between the host Nation Qatar and Ecuador instead of Senegal’s match against the Netherlands.

Tottenham Hotspur Manager, Antonio Conte, has banned four players from first-team training. According to reports, the four players have been working alone since Spurs returned from their pre-season tour of South Korea. The report added that the Premier League Club is looking for buyers for Tanguy Ndombele, Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso.

Nick Kyrgios beat world number one Daniil Medvedev at the Canadian Open. Kyrgios, lost a first-set tie-break but fought back to win 6-7 6-4 6-2. Both players were coming off weekend title wins, Kyrgios at the Washington 500 on Sunday and Medvedev at Los Cabos, Mexico, on Saturday.

World number one Iga Swiatek has progressed to the last 16 at the Canadian Open. Swiatek won a straight-set win over Ajla Tomljanovic. She will meet Canadian 13th seed Leylah Fernandez or Brazil's Beatriz Maia next.  

The World Cup is set to start one day earlier than planned on Sunday, 20 November with hosts Qatar taking on Ecuador. The administrative arm of world football governing body Fifa has submitted a proposal to move the Qatar game. The final decision will be made by the bureau of Fifa council, which comprises the six confederation presidents, plus Fifa president, Gianni Infantino.
