Williams, who made this known in a post on her Instagram page, disclosed that she has to focus on being a mum and achieve her spiritual growth. The 23-time Grand Slam winner added that it is time for her to move in a different direction.

Former Flying Eagles Midfielder, Kingsley Michael, has joined Austrian Club, SV Reid on a season-long loan deal. Michael moved to SV Reid from Serie A club, Bologna. The 22-year-old suffered a long-term injury last October and is hoping to get his career back in track.

Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta, is set to approve the termination of Hector Bellerin’s contract with the club. Kasatkina's win over American world number 30 Rogers is her first WTA Tour title of the year and fifth of her career. The new world number nine returns to the top 10 for the first time since 2019.

Oluwatobiloba Amusan inspired Team Nigeria to first place in the women’s 4x100m relay at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday. Amusan and the quartet of Rosemary Chukwuma, Favour Ofili and Nzubechi Nwokocha won gold medal in a new African record of 42.10s. Amusan, who also won women’s 100m hurdles with a new Commonwealth Games record on Sunday morning started the race for Nigeria.

Chelsea has signed Spanish defender Marc Cucurella from Brighton in a £60m deal. Cucurella, who scored one goal in 38 games in his only season for the Seagulls, signed a six-year contract. Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has clinched the Gold Medal for Nigeria in the Women’s Heavyweight Power-lifting event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
