Lionel Messi has revealed that 2022 Qatar world cup will be the final World Cup of his career. Messi announced the news on his future with the Argentina national team on Thursday. He is set to play in his fifth World Cup in Qatar he has scored six goals in the previous four editions of the tournament.

British number one Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the Transylvania Open with a wrist injury. Raducanu, whose father was born in Romania, reached the quarter-finals of the tournament last year. She has struggled with injuries during her first full year on the WTA tour as she has tried to build on her 2021 US Open victory.

Inter Miami striker Gonzalo Higuain has announced his retirement at the age of 34 on Monday. Higuain will see out the current season at Inter Miami and attempt to push Phil Neville’s side into the play-offs before quitting the game. With his Inter Miami deal expiring at the end of the season, the striker believes now is the time to follow his brother Federico into retirement.

Leicester beat Nottingham Forest to secure their first Premier League win of the season. James Maddison scored twice either side of a Harvey Barnes strike as Leicester opened up a 3-0 lead before half-time. The result means Forest have now lost their last five games and drop to the bottom on goal difference.

Defender, William Troost-Ekong has been ruled out of action by Watford until mid-October after picking an injury. Troost-Ekong was part of the Super Eagles squad for the friendly matches against Algeria during the FIFA international break. His injury ruled him out of the game against Algeria’s main team which the Foxes won 2-1.

Djokovic, did not face a break point in the first set as he beat second seed Marin Cilic in his first final since his All England Club triumph. The world number seven had played one other event since his 21st Grand Slam title win.  

Newcastle has agreed a deal to sign Garang Kuol from Central Coast Mariners. The Club reportedly paid an initial £300,000 before add-on clauses. Kuol earned his first Australia cap last week becoming the youngest player to represent his country since former Leeds and Liverpool Harry Kewell in 1996.
