The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, has urged drivers in Lagos State to be more careful when passing through the level crossing, to avoid train accidents. Managing Director of the Corporation, Fidet Okhiria, appealed to motorists to consider the level crossing at all times. The Director noted that when motorists get to the level crossing, they should not ignore the point where they should stop.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of has expressed sadness over the news of the train/bus accident. Reports say a passenger train crushed a Lagos State Government staff bus at PWD area of the state. The spokesperson for the State Traffic Management Authority, Taofiq Adebayo, revealed that an unspecified number of people have been injured. Adebayo noted that rescue operation was ongoing, adding that the accident recorded many casualties as the bus is fully loaded with government staff going to office.

Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has announced the promotion of all State civil servants to the next grade level. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has shut down amenities in Imo State over alleged ill-treatment of workers by the state government. The United Kingdom government has appointed Richard Montgomery as the new British High Commissioner to Nigeria. Montgomery’s appointment was announced in a statement issued by the UK government. He is expected to begin his new role in April 2023. The High Commissioner will take over from Catriona Laing who has been the UK’s representative in Nigeria since 2018.
