Jazz pianist, composer and band leader Ahmad Jamal has died aged 92. According to his daughter, Sumayah Jamal, revealed that the cause was prostate cancer. Jamal was known for a sparse playing style often placing silence between notes.

Multi-award-winning Beninese music legend Angelique Kidjo has become only the third African to win the prestigious Polar Music prize. KIdjo was announced as the 2023 winner alongside Chris Blackwell from the United Kingdom and ArvoPärt from Estonia. The Polar Music Prize which is also tagged the Nobel Prize of Music is a Swedish international award founded in 1989, and is annually given to one contemporary musician and one classical musician.

Nigerian music stars Wizkid, Tekno, and 1da Banton will be featured on the third season of popular TV show "Ted Lasso". The stars are joined by artists across the world including American megastar Beyoncé, rapper Ice Cube, and Bob Dylan. Wizkid's 'Essence', Tekno's 'Enjoy', and 1da Banton's'No Wahala' all made the 50-track soundtrack.

Nigerian megastar Davido has announced that his album will be released on March 31st, 2023. The Singer announced this via his Instagram account on Tuesday. The album titled 'Timeless' will be Davido's fourth album since he released his debut album 'Omo Baba Olowo' in 2013.

Nigerian Singer Burna Boy has been announced as one of the performers at the 2023 UEFA Champions League final. The announcement was made via the Champions League official Twitter handle on Thursday. Burna Boy will become the first Nigerian artist to perform on the biggest stage of European Club football.
