EFCC Arrests Illegal Refiners in Rivers

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested 120 people for alleged oil theft.

Spokesperson of the Commission, Wilson Uwujaren disclosed that the agency carried out a joint operation with personnel of the 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Uwujaren stated that the suspects were accused of illegally refining stolen petroleum products and economic sabotage.

He added that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Anambra Government Sets Up Family Court

Anambra State government has set up a family court to handle matters relating to domestic violence. The State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Ify Obinabo revealed that the state had recently recorded five deaths occasioned by domestic violence. Obinabo noted that the court already has 10 pending cases, with nine suspects remanded. The Commissioner added that the state government has zero- tolerance for domestic violence.
