Federal Government Announces Date for Blood Donor Day

The Federal Government has declared December 8 annually as Nigeria’s National Blood Donor Day.

Acting Director General of the National Blood Service Commission, Omale Amedu, made this known while inaugurating the National Central Planning Committee in Abuja.

Amedu revealed that this comes on the heels of government’s renewed commitment to ensure the availability of safe and adequate blood for Nigerians.

He charged the committee to ensure all blood establishments and hospitals work in synergy to provide sustainable quantities of safe blood for the country as well as adequately appreciating voluntary blood donors.
