The World Health Organization set aside June 14th as a day to raise awareness on the need for safe blood, blood donation, and to celebrate blood donors.
Speaking with Boss Radio news, the Southeast, Chief Councilor of the National Blood Service Commission, NBSC, Chika Okpara, highlights the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘Donating Blood is an act of solidarity; join the efforts to save lives’.
Okpara urges the public to render humanitarian service through blood donations.
Also speaking, a health Practitioner, Ekene Ahaneku, says the celebration is to raise global awareness of the essence of safe blood.
World blood donor Day is marked annually on June 14.
Hollywood Actor, Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Spacey has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. He is due at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday. The charges follow a review of evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police.
