ASUU Resumes Talks with Federal Government Over Strike Issues

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have said the Nimi Briggs Committee is in negotiation with the Unions.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen on Sunday, ASUU’s National President, Emmanuel Osodeke, said the Union has been negotiating with the Briggs Committee since last week over its demands.

According to Osodeke, once an agreement is reached, the strike would be called off.

Recalled that the Federal Government had on March 7 inaugurated a Seven-Man Committee Chaired by the Pro-Chancellor of Alex Ekweme Federal University, Nimi Briggs to review the FGN/ASUU’s Agreement.
