Israel hits Rafah with concentrated air strikes

Thirty-five Palestinians have been killed in the enclave and 130 wounded in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
Israeli tanks and drones push into Rafah’s western neighbourhoods as an attack on aid seekers kills at least nine Palestinians and injures 30.
An Israeli military spokesman says “Hamas is an ideology” and “we cannot eliminate an ideology” in contrast to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s repeated comments that Israel will not end its war on Gaza until Hamas is defeated.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) estimates just 65,000 people remain in Rafah, where more than one million Palestinians had been seeking shelter before fleeing the Israeli military’s advance on the southern city.
