Lagos Court Orders Remand Of Emefiele In EFCC Custody

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Lagos.
The Lagos State Special Offences Court took this action after Emefiele and his co-defendant, Herry Omoile, pleaded not guilty to charges of abuse of office. Rahman Oshodi made the remand order and scheduled a bail determination hearing for Thursday.
The charges against Emefiele and Omoile include accepting gratification, corruption, and fraudulent property receipts, filed by Rotimi Oyedepo, EFCC prosecutor.
Emefiele faces additional charges at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja related to alleged fraudulent financial transactions during his tenure. While awaiting the bail determination, he remains in EFCC custody, with Omoile has been remanded to the Nigerian Correctional Services.
