In a significant development, the Edo State House of Assembly has taken the decision to impeach Philip Shaibu, Deputy Governor of Edo State. This decision came after a thorough investigation conducted by panel appointed by the Assembly to look into allegations of misconduct against Shaibu.
The impeachment process, which began earlier this week, reached its climax with a dramatic vote during the plenary session. Out of the 20 members present, 18 voted in favor of the panel’s findings, leading to Shaibu’s removal from office.”
Following the vote, Blessing Agbrbaku, Speaker of the House, instructed that a formal copy of the impeachment decision be sent to Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State for his assent, marking a significant development in the state’s political landscape.
