EFCC recovers N30bn from Betta Edu’s Scandal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, recently announced the recovery of N30 billion in the ongoing investigation of suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu and former Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Authority, NSIPA, Halima Shehu.
According to the anti-graft agency, it has equally placed 50 bank accounts under investigation in the ongoing investigation. this was disclosed by the Chairman of EFCC , Ola Olukoyede, published in the March edition of the anti-graft agency’s monthly e-magazine EFCCAlert.
Recall President Bola Tinubu had suspended Edu and Shehu about three months ago following an alleged financial misappropriation.
While at it, the president also suspended Social Investment Programme while directing the EFCC to take over the case and probe both embattled officials.
