Ortom Calls for Suspension of Census

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has called for the suspension of the proposed National Population Census scheduled for May 2023.

Ortom made the call when he received a delegation from the Middle Belt Forum in Makurdi, the state capital.

He asked the federal government to halt the exercise until Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, return to their homes.

The state has the worst record of herdsmen attack in the country, with thousands of persons killed within a year.

Ikpeazu Makes New Appointment

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has appointed Osita Igbe as the new Rector of the State College of Health Sciences and Management. Igbe’s appointment was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State government, Chris Ezem. The statement noted that his appointment was with immediate effect. The newly appointed Rector, who is a university lecturer is to replace Maduakolam Nwogwugwu.
