Committee Announces Date for Ikonne’s Burial

Former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Uche Ikonne will be buried on April 28, 2023.

A statement issued by the burial committee said a commendation service and singsong will be held in his honour by his church on April 24.

The statement stated that there would be a colloquium and day of tributes for him on 25th April while a valedictory/Senate session would be held for him by his former place of work, in Uturu.

Ikonne completed his tenure as Vice chancellor of the State University, ABSU, before joining politics and then emerging as the governorship candidate of the PDP.

INEC Announces Date for Supplementary Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced date for the conduct of all outstanding governorship, National and State Assembly supplementary elections. Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, revealed that the elections will hold on Saturday, April 15. This comes barely one week after the governorship elections of Kebbi and Adamawa states were declared inconclusive.
