Federal Government Activates Emergency Lassa Fever Centres

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has activated the national multi-sectoral Emergency Operations Centre for Lassa fever.

A statement signed by the Director General of NCDC, Ifedayo Adetifa, revealed that the purpose of the activation is to reduce the impact of the disease by reducing suffering and death, and other socioeconomic complications.

The statement added that this will help coordinate and strengthen ongoing response activities in the country.
Lassa fever is an acute viral haemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus.
