Emefiele Approves Deposit of Old naira Notes After Deadline

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, has said Nigerians can still deposit old notes at commercial banks even after the February 10 deadline.

Emefiele made this known when he appeared before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee.

The Governor stated that he is in agreement with the parliament on section 20, which says even after the old currency has lost its legal tender status they are mandated to collect that money.
